With the first translation of the Kural text into Telugu made in 1877, Telugu has seen a series of translations before the turn of the 20th century. Ranganath is Chiru's elder brother — the only educated person in the family. Many of his novels have been made into motion pictures in Telugu. He also directed two movies in Telugu, the first being Agni Pravesam, starring Yamuna, and the second movie with Chiranjeevi by name, Stuvartpuram Police Station. Both the stories were based on his own novels but not received well by the audience.
