[1] Its parish seat is Donaldsonville. [2] The parish was created in 1807. [3] Ascension Parish is part of the Baton Rouge metropolitan statistical area.

[1] The community is located along the Mississippi River on Louisiana Highway 405, north of the parish seat of Donaldsonville, between Hohen Solms (area of the Germania-Elise Plantation), [2] and Philadelphia Point, due south and across the river from Geismar.
