The Archangel Michael attended Adam's death, together with Eve and his son Seth, still living at that time, and he was buried together with his murdered son Abel. [27] Because they repented, God gave Adam and Eve garments of light, and similar garments will clothe the Messiah when he comes. [28]
Adam in paradise had angels to wait upon and dance before him. [13] He ate "angel's bread". [14] All creation bowed before him in awe. He was the light of the world, [15] but sin deprived him of all glory. The earth and the heavenly bodies lost their brightness, which will come back only in the Messianic time. (chapters 33–37) The chariot and all the angels bear Adam's body to the Garden and lay him on the earth. Only Seth can see the scene.
Hence after a period of time, the man and woman would need to eat again from the tree or else be "transported to the spiritual life." Rabbi Samuel bar Naḥman taught that when God created Adam, God created Adam double-faced, then God split Adam and made Adam of two backs, one back on this side and one back on the other side. An objection was raised that Genesis 2:21 says, "And He took one of his ribs" (implying that God created Eve separately from Adam).
