The Bear Lake Market on N. Main St. in Paris, Idaho dates from 1890. It was listed o the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. [1] The listing included a two-story three-bay building and the adjoining one-story building to its north. The one-story building has brick pilasters and leaded glass mezzanine lights. [2]
Bear Lake County is a county in the U.S. state of Idaho. As of the 2020 United States Census the county had a population of 6,372. [1] The county seat is Paris, [2] and Montpelier is the largest city. The county is named after Bear Lake, a large alpine lake at an elevation of 5,924 feet (1,806 m) above sea level.
By the time Idaho was admitted to the Union as the 43rd state in 1890, a further eight counties had been created, bringing the total to 18. The Bear Lake County Courthouse, located in Paris, was the county courthouse serving Bear Lake County, Idaho. Built in 1884–85, the building was one of Idaho's oldest county courthouses. Architect Truman O. Angell designed the building in the Italian Renaissance Revival style.
