The major areas of Den Helder are the Stad Binnen de Linie (a city within the city's defence line), Nieuw-Den Helder, and De Schooten. Nieuw-Den Helder was built in the 1950s, following World War II, when there was a great need for additional housing. De Schooten was constructed in the 1960s.
Friese Buurt is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland.It is a part of the municipality of Den Helder, and lies about 3 km south of the Den Helder city centre.The name ("Frisian Neighbourhood") refers to the Frisian farmers who moved here after this area was reclaimed from the sea.
