Mike LaFleur attended Elmhurst University (formerly Elmhurst College) and played quarterback for the Bluejays in 2006 and 2007. LaFleur started all ten games at safety for the Bluejays in 2008. [1] He was a team captain and a three-time letter winner at Elmhurst. [2]

At Elmhurst College, Rau was coached by past NCAA champion Steve Marianetti and won the 184 pound title at the 2013 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships. [4] He is a three-time NCAA DIII All-American and 2014 University Nationals Champion.
At Elmhurst, he played both offensive line in football and wrestled as a heavyweight. He was named NCAA Division III All-American third team following his senior season. He also won two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championships as a wrestler and was inducted into Elmhurst's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993. [2]
