A long history exists of various individuals serving in the congressional delegations from the State of Texas to the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate, with all of this occurring after Texas as a territory was annexed as a State in December 1865.
Texas's 31st congressional district of the United States House of Representatives covers a strip of Central Texas from the northern Austin suburbs up to Temple and Gatesville. The district is centered around Bell and Williamson counties, two fast-growing suburban counties north of Austin; it includes the Williamson County portion of Austin itself.
The Memorial Villages and a portion of the city of Houston are also located within the district. The district was created in the redistricting after the 2020 census, where Texas gained two seats in the House.
