Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, commonly referred to as simply Tottenham (/ ˈ t ɒ t ən ə m /, [2] [3] TOT-ən-əm, / t ɒ t n ə m /, tot-nəm) or Spurs, is a professional football club based in Tottenham, north London, England. It competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the home of Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in North London, replacing the club's previous ground, White Hart Lane. With a seating capacity of 62,850, [ 1 ] it is the 3rd largest football stadium in England and the largest club ground in London. [ 10 ]

The club played mostly in the Second Division until the 1950s, when it enjoyed a revival, reaching a peak in the 1960s. Fortunes dipped after the early 1970s, but resurged in the 1980s. Tottenham was a founding member of the Premier League in 1992; they finished in mid-table most seasons, but now rank as one of the top six clubs.
Tottenham were forced to produce a one-off yellow shirt for the final when The Football League decided both of their home and away strips, respectively white and light blue, clashed with Blackburn's blue-and-white home strip. Blackburn were without defender Craig Short and midfielders Gary Flitcroft and Tugay Kerimoğlu due to suspension.
