The deep-field photograph, which covers a tiny area of sky visible from the Southern Hemisphere, is centered on SMACS 0723, a galaxy cluster in the constellation of Volans. Thousands of galaxies are visible in the image, some as old as 13 billion years. [1] It is the highest-resolution image of the early universe ever taken.
The resolution 3840 × 2160, sometimes referred to as 4K UHD or 4K × 2K, has a 16:9 aspect ratio and 8,294,400 pixels. It is double the size of Full HD ( 1920 × 1080 ) in both dimensions for a total of four times as many pixels, and triple the size of HD ( 1280 × 720 ) in both dimensions for a total of nine times as many pixels.
The DCI 4K standard has twice the horizontal and vertical resolution of DCI 2K (2048 × 1080), with four times as many pixels overall. Digital movies made in 4K may be produced, scanned, or stored in a number of other resolutions depending on what storage aspect ratio is used.
Video standards associated with IBM-PC-descended personal computers are shown in the diagram and table below, alongside those of early Macintosh and other makes for comparison. (From the early 1990s onwards, most manufacturers moved over to PC display standards thanks to widely available and affordable hardware). Comparison of video resolutions.

Details from the HDF illustrate the wide variety of galaxy shapes, sizes and colors found in the distant universe. Deep field image taken by ALMA and Hubble. [14] The HDF data provided extremely rich material for cosmologists to analyse and by late 2014 the associated scientific paper for the image had received over 900 citations. [15]
