Operation Petticoat is an American sitcom that was based on the 1959 film by the same name. It was broadcast on ABC for two seasons, from September 17, 1977, until October 16, 1978. The first season starred John Astin as the skipper of the submarine, as well as Jamie Lee Curtis , the daughter of Tony Curtis , who had starred in the 1959 film.
This was followed by the comedies Some Like It Hot and Operation Petticoat in 1959. In 1960, Curtis played a supporting role in the epic historical drama Spartacus. His stardom and film career declined considerably after 1960. His most significant dramatic part came in 1968 when he starred in the true-life drama The Boston Strangler.
