Jayco RV is a subsidiary of Jayco Family of Companies and an American manufacturer of recreational vehicles. The company manufactures Conventional Travel Trailers , Toy Haulers, Fifth-Wheel Travel, Trailers and Motorhomes (Class A, B, and C).
Jayco is an RV maker based in Middlebury, Indiana. It was founded in 1968 by Lloyd and Bertha Bontrager and was acquired by Thor in 2016. The company was founded by Forest City, Iowa businessman John K. Hanson in February 1958. At the time, the town, located in Winnebago County, Iowa, was undergoing an economic downturn, so Hanson and a group of community leaders convinced a California firm, Modernistic Industries, to open a travel trailer factory in a bid to revive the local economy.
Modern pop-ups range in weight from approximately 700 pounds (320 kg) to 3,800 pounds (1,700 kg) pounds empty or full. Models are generally classified by the length of their box, which ranges from 8 feet (2.4 m) to 16 feet (4.9 m).

It was the first of the now familiar sausage-shaped, silver aluminum Airstream trailers. In 1936, the first Airstream was introduced. It sold for $1,200 and was able to house four people with electric lights and a water supply. [3] Of more than 400 travel trailer builders operating in 1936, Airstream was the sole survivor of the Depression. [4]
