The Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds is a North American big block modified touring series currently promoted by World Racing Group. The series primarily races on dirt ovals in the Northeastern United States and Canada along with select dates in Florida and North Carolina .
Modern era big-block supermodifieds use a radically offset chassis that is up to 18 inches (460 mm) to the left of center. The engine and drivetrain components are mounted in a specially-fabricated area placed outside the left side frame rails. The engine is thus a stressed member of the chassis.
The Bolland family purchased the new “Cole” built chassis and Kevin started racing his own car in the 1982 season as a rookie big block dirt modified driver. This season proved to be a banner year, and as a rookie Kevin won 7 features between Mercer Raceway Park, Lernerville Speedway , and Sharon Speedway .

The modern supermodified car is a front-engine / rear-drive vehicle with a big block Chevrolet engine mounted on the left side of the chassis to maximize kinetic force for left turns on the 0.625 mi (1.006 km), asphalt track.
The M8A was an evolution of the previous M6A design, and featured an all-aluminium seven-litre Chevrolet big-block V8 as a semi-stressed chassis member. [4] The engines were built by Gary Knutson and initially developed 590 bhp. Two complete M8A race cars and one spare tub were built. [5]
