Farmland Industries was the largest agricultural cooperative in North America when it eventually sold all of its assets in 2002–04. During its 74-year history, Farmland served its farmer membership as a diversified, integrated organization, playing a significant role in agricultural markets both domestically and worldwide.
Stone from the ranch's quarry was used to build a number of buildings in nearby Bird City, including the city hall and city park, both built as Works Progress Administration projects during the New Deal. [4] As of 2022 the property is listed as a "working farm and ranch resort" which is available for pheasant hunting [5] and for turkey hunting. [6]
It is located east of K-7 and south of State Avenue (US-24, near 126th Street) next to the Sandstone Amphitheater and Kansas City Renaissance Festival. It is north of the Kansas Turnpike "Bonner Springs" exit, and about one mile (1.6 km) west of the Kansas Speedway.
