Heavener / ˈ h iː v n ər / is a town in Le Flore County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 3,414 at the 2010 census, an increase of 6.7 percent from 3,201 at the 2000 census. [ 4 ] Heavener is notable for the Heavener Runestone just outside the city limits.

As of the 2020 census, the population was 3,272, [1] making it the third-least populous county in Oklahoma. The county seat is Buffalo. [2] It was created in 1907 from the northwestern part of Woodward County, and named for Oscar Green Harper, who was clerk of the Oklahoma Constitutional Convention. [3]
