Long distance (even 200m repeats) will not substantially help your 100m time. Average times for your age (freshman year in hs) are about 13.4-12.7 for my state. As for your goals don't set limits on yourself you will run as fast as your training will take you. The longer/harder you train the faster you can be.
A 1:05 on its own isn't even a top 5000 time in the 15-16 age group in the 100 free. 1:05 extrapolated out to a 1500 is 16:15. That would be the 17th ranked 15-16 year old in the country this past year. If this is ten 100's on say 1:30 being swam and not a 1000 straight. 1:05 is a very easy pace for the fastest high school swimmers.
Novice: 12+. My first 100m ever was junior year of high school, 12.30, I think. Blazin. Slow: 11.9-11.5. Good: 11.4-11.1. Middle ground 11.00, this will probably hit regional and maybe even state standards in high school. “Whoa he’s quick” 10.99-10.6, might win state where you’re at, might be last in the final.
alright. I know that 15-16 seconds is a poor time for 100 meters (I am a beginner) so it would be easier to reduce it to 14 seconds (about average time) by February. I want to get to 13 seconds by the end of next year. I think I will do 4-5 100 meter laps everday
I think the 100m time for a fit, healthy, genetically average 18-25 year old who sprints and lift weights 2-3 sessions per week for a year is about 13 seconds. That’s why I specified the parameters of “average”. Average American is overweight but not the average European so we are excluding overweight as “average”.
For the average 14 year old doing sport: 14-15s. For the average 14 year old: 15-17s. from what I've seen (I'm 14 now) about 13 is average but good is around 11.5. I don’t do track and run 13 seconds at 14. I've been doing athletics for half a year now and I've shaved my time down to 13.06, and I'm somehow the fastest in my grade (year 10).
Universal speed would be under 11.5 seconds in the 100m for a male. The average guy around that age is probably 12-13 seconds in the 100m for a good sprint time. If you want to be considered in the “Fast” Range, anything under 12 seconds will make you faster than the majority of the population.
As was said earlier, best time is the goal in swimming. If you are constantly comparing your times with others it can get discouraging pretty quick. Because you took the time to ask the question I assume you want some sort of answer. Competitive times in the US for your age group hover around a minute, with the best swimmers breaking 50 seconds.
Here is the USA Swimming 2020-2024 Motivational Times chart which shows time versus each stroke/distance by age for progression from B times to faster times. Your time for your age for 100 BK is just slightly faster than a BB time.
average male is very different from average genetics. OP said a 10 year old kid with average genetics. that doesn't mean whether or not the kid had a sedentary lifestyle or active lifestyle because "lifestyle" literally is not genetics. 11-12 seconds. Average male person trained from 10-20y would be sub 12 for sure.
