I wouldn't trust it on the road so I either have to find a steel hood or buy a glass bolt-on hood. I already have a scoop if I go the steel hood route. As I said, I'd really like to know what Hero Car #1 ended the show with. Barring any major problems I'd say a year until it starts going back together and two until it's on the road.

383 starts good cold. starts ok when i gas up (shut off maybe 4-5 minutes) temp gauge is normal at 180*. but if it sits 10 minutes plus it cranks maybe 30-40 seconds with peddle to the floor before it starts. i,ve insolated fuel line with tin foil and put a cool carb poly gasket ... hopefully i can figure this out before i burn starter.

Well-Known Member. not much, be ready to plug a few vacuum lines. carb/intake/air cleaner, you will have to extend the throttle cable, re route the fuel line. you can make the brackets work or find some off a factory 4 barrel car/truck. i did this with my 400 2 barrel using a 383 intake. please chime in if i missed something here fellas.
Buy re-manufactured 318 - $1,500 - 7 year 100,000 mile warranty. Buy re-manufactured 360 - $2,100 - 3 year warranty. Keep in mind that oil pan, intake, and carb are all getting replaced either way. Also, my flywheel has damage and needs to be replaced either way. I would love to have a motor with about 300-350 hp.
