Alpha Chi National College Honor Society (or ΑΧ) is an American collegiate honor society recognizing achievements in general scholarship. It was formed in 1922 by nineteen schools in Texas; however, the first official meeting to discuss the founding of an intercollegiate honor society, held on February 22, 1922, only saw five schools represented. [1]
Sigma Tau Delta was founded on December 12, 1922 as the English Club of Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota. [2] Its founders were professors Judson Quincy Owen or Dakota Wesleyan University, Frederic Fadner of Lombard College, and P. C. Sommerville of Dakota Wesleyan.

Alpha Gamma Sigma (ΑΓΣ; AGS) is the honor society of the California Community Colleges system, founded in 1926 by William T. Boyce at Fullerton College. [1] It was conceived as "an intellectual stimulus, comparable to that of Phi Beta Kappa in the higher colleges" [2] for what were then called junior colleges in California.
