The Cincinnati Open (also known as the Cincinnati Masters) is an annual professional tennis event held in Cincinnati, United States.Due to previous sponsorship, it has also been known as: the Thriftway ATP Championships, the Great American Insurance ATP Championships, the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters and Women's Open and, most recently, the Western & Southern Open.
The doubles event was held in various locations; Newport (1881–1914), Forest Hills (1915–1916, 1942–1945, 1968–1977), Longwood (1917–1933, 1935–1941, 1946–1967) and Germantown, Philadelphia (1934) before it settled in 1978 at the USTA National Tennis Center, now the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, in New York City.
