From 2010, many of the medical and public health colleges/institutes have become affiliated to BSMMU. For example BIRDEM, BIHS, DMC, SSMC, NICVD, NITOR and others. The total duration of training of the cadets is four years. Out of that 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year training is conducted in the academy to cover the theoretical aspects of professional and academic subjects.
