BRTA licence specimen. Bangladesh Road Transport Authority, widely known as BRTA, is the authority to issue driving licences in Bangladesh. [1] BRTA, stationed in 32 districts among the 62 administrative circles, at the authority of Ministry of Communication and under the Motor honda Ordinance, 2001, regulates particular process and authorises any person intending to drive motor honda.
BRTA is a regulatory body to control, manage and ensure discipline in the road transport sector of Bangladesh, as well as to maintain road safety. It works under the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges to carry out the purposes set out for it under the Motor Vehicle Ordinance. [1] The Chairman is the chief executive of BRTA.

In June 2020, the BRTA announced personalised number plates, where people can choose registrations numbers they prefer, for an increased registration fee. If the last four digits are 00xx, (eg. xx-0011, xx-0022, etc.) the registration fee will be two times higher.
A valid provisional driving licence, passed FTT and a photo ID must be presented to be allowed to take the practical test. Should a learner's provisional driving licence expire before the date of their practical test, he or she will have to renew it at the same cost. Expired PDL are not accepted and taking the practical tests will be rejected.
Upon achieving this, they must be supervised by a full licensed driver of at least 25 years of age when driving. After a minimum of one year, they can take a practical driver's exam (road test). Upon succeeding the driver's exam, they receive their Class 7 N (Novice) licence, which allows them to drive alone, but with several restrictions.
