600 @ Toa Payoh, formerly Central Cinema (中央戏院) and Kong Chian Cinema (光前戏院), is a commercial building and a former cinema in Toa Payoh town centre which was located near the Toa Payoh Public Library. The building currently houses a pool centre, amenities, eateries and a 24 hours McDonald's fast food restaurant.
Toa Payoh Theatre was one of two cinemas opened for Toa Payoh HDB estate by Eng Wah Organisation in the 1970s, the other being the Kong Chian Cinema which was located near the Toa Payoh Branch Library. [1] It was then being upgraded to the Toa Payoh Entertainment Centre in November 1997 to serve as a leisure space for Toa Payoh residents.

In November 1997, the cinema converted into a shopping mall, Toa Payoh Entertainment Centre, comprising retail outlets and a 5 hall cineplex. Due to declining ticket sales for the cinema and little customers to the Entertainment Centre, the Toa Payoh Entertainment Centre was closed down on 9 December 2010. [ 17 ]

In the 1970s, he opened several cinemas in new HDB towns and the first cinema opened was at Toa Payoh and consequently opened others in Clementi, Ang Mo Kio and Kallang Bahru. Under his leadership, the firm became the leading film distributor in 1980s and became the first cinema operator to be listed on 4 July 1994 in the SGX.
