A gyro monorail, gyroscopic monorail, or gyro-stabilized monorail is a single-rail land vehicle that uses the gyroscopic action of one or more spinning wheels to overcome the inherent instability of balancing atop a single rail. For a similar steerable vehicle, see Gyrocar.
The Ewing System is a balancing monorail system developed in the late 19th century by British inventor W. J. Ewing. It is not to be confused with the much later system patented by Robert W. Ewing. [dead link ] In the Ewing System the main wheels of the train run on a single steel rail.
Brennan's gyroscopically balanced monorail on a demonstration run. He did much work on a monorail locomotive which was kept upright by a gyrostat. In 1903 he patented a gyroscopically-balanced monorail system that he designed for military use; he successfully demonstrated the full sized system on 10 November 1909, at Gillingham, England.
DOST's AGTS was initially conceptualized as a monorail in 2011 but modifications made to the prototype has revised the project. The current design of the AGTS makes use of a railroad track with two rails instead of only one rail used in monorails. [2] Miescor Builders, a subcontractor of the MIRDC, was responsible for the guideway. [2]
In March 2010, he filed a provisional patent for Solowheel, a self-balancing electric unicycle, [19] using a gyroscopic sensors to balance the unit in the direction of travel. The Solowheel won numerous awards including 2011 ISPO Bike BrandNew finalist in Munich, Germany and 2012 INPEX Invention Trade Show first runner-up in Pittsburgh ...
Shilovsky's gyrocar in 1914, London A gyrocar is a two-wheeled automobile. The difference between a bicycle or motorcycle and a gyrocar is that in a bike, dynamic balance is provided by the rider, and in some cases by the geometry and mass distribution of the bike itself, and the gyroscopic effects from the wheels.
A pregnant woman is recovering in the hospital after she was stabbed multiple times by a pizza delivery driver over the size of her tip, according to reports.
