Lake Francis State Park is a public recreation area located on Lake Francis in the town of Pittsburg, New Hampshire. The state park has a boat launch, visitor center, and playground and offers opportunities for fishing, canoeing on the reservoir and upper part of the Connecticut River, ATV riding, camping, and snow sports. Pittsburg is notable for being the largest township (in terms of land area) in the continental United States. [2] Although there was a U.S. border station at Connecticut Lakes as far back as the 1930s, the facility consisted of a small one-room structure, and later a mobile home.
In 2002, the NHSA successfully lobbied to have House Bill 1348, Chapter 253 enacted into law in New Hampshire. The law states that everyone who registers a snowmobile in New Hampshire needs to show proof of membership with a New Hampshire snowmobile club affiliated with the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association, or pay an extra $30.00 per snowmobile.
The park is home to the New Hampshire Snowmobile Museum, Old Allenstown Meeting House, and the Richard Diehl Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Museum, which are in historic buildings built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
