Miranda do Douro (European Portuguese: [miˈɾɐ̃dɐ ðu ˈðo(w)ɾu] ⓘ; Mirandese: Miranda de l Douro [miˈɾɐ̃dɐ ðɨl ˈdowɾʊ]; Spanish: Miranda de Duero) is a city and a municipality in the district of Bragança, northeastern Portugal. The population in 2011 was 7,482, [1] in an area of 487.18 km 2. [2]
It is located in the municipalities of Miranda do Douro, Mogadouro, Freixo de Espada à Cinta and Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, spanning a lengthy area along the Douro River where it functions as the border between Portugal and Spain (hence "International Douro").
