San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), established in 1851, is the only public school district within the City and County of San Francisco, and the first in the state of California. [3] Under the management of the San Francisco Board of Education , the district serves approximately 49,500 students across 121 schools.
South San Francisco Unified School District is governed by a five-member Board of Trustees. Members of the Board are directly elected by voters and serve four-year terms with staggered elections held in even years. El Camino High School is situated on a foothill of the San Bruno Mountain and consists of five different levels. The first level consists of a theater and a parking lot which, in 2012, was updated to contain a wide solar panel array, and a two-floor Science Building which opened in April 2014.
