The railroad of Peoria Railway Terminal Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a partly double-track, standard-gauge railroad, located between the cities of Peoria and Pekin, in the State of Illinois. The main line is equipped with overhead trolley, and both steam and electric motive power are used in the operation of the property.
Poor patronage led the Illinois Terminal to withdraw the City of Decatur in August 1950; the equipment was reassigned to the Peoria run. [1] The railway managed hourly passenger travel, but ridership declined during the Great Depression and service was suspended on 7 November 1931.
