The UBC Thunderbirds are the athletic teams that represent the University of British Columbia. In Canadian intercollegiate competition, the Thunderbirds are the most successful athletic program both regionally in the Canada West Universities Athletic Association , and nationally in U Sports , winning 119 national titles.
Following his playing career, Pritchett was an international scout for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball, assigned to Canada. [2] In 2015 he became the head coach of the UBC Thunderbirds baseball team, which competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. [3]

After retirement from active play, Ray was the pitching coach for the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds from 1998 to 2000. Goveia served as the offensive coordinator for the UBC Thunderbirds in 2005. [5] On January 18, 2006, Goveia was named the head coach of the Thunderbirds. [ 6 ] After a 4–4 season in 2006 , he had three straight losing seasons and was fired at the end of the 2009 season when the team finished with 1–7 record.
