Chartiers Creek is a tributary of the Ohio River in Western Pennsylvania in the United States. The creek was named after Peter Chartier , [ 6 ] a trapper of French and Native American parentage who established a trading post at the mouth of the creek in 1743.
The watershed's area is 147.41 square miles (381.79 km 2). It drains forests, farmlands, abandoned mines, and urban and suburban communities. The watershed includes portions of thirty-three municipalities. The lower watershed drains a heavily industrial area between the cities of Pittsburgh and McKeesport. [14]
