The Southeastern Library Association (SELA) is an organization that collaborates with different library associations within the Southeastern United States, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Frances Neel Cheney (August 19, 1906 – May 5, 1996) was an American librarian, professor, and prolific reviewer of reference books. She graduated from Vanderbilt University and served in a number of professional positions at the school, including as an instructor at the Peabody Library School.
Beard was President of the Southeastern Library Association. He served twice as the Georgia Library Association's president. [3] Beard was the lead in developing Georgia Library Learning Online (GALILEO), an online resource for Georgia libraries, connecting them all in one virtual library. [4] [5]

Nix was elected president of the Southeastern Library Association in 1958, and continued her involvement with the organization throughout the 1960s. [6] She was also a trustee of the Georgia Library Trustees and Friends Association from 1949 to 1951. [7] In 1963, Georgia governor Carl Sanders named her a member of the Georgia Commission on Aging.
The KLA became a state chapter of the American Library Association in 1917, and is a member of the Southeastern Library Association. [3] One of the KLA's daughter organizations, the Kentucky Public Library Association (KPLA), aims to encourage growth of its members, improve library service, and work with other organizations to do so. [8]
