The township is located in southern Bedford County in the Cumberland Valley, a narrow Appalachian valley bounded by Wills Mountain to the west and Evitts Mountain to the east. Evitts Creek , a tributary of the North Branch Potomac River , flows southwards through the valley, and U.S. Route 220 passes through the center of the valley as well.

Harrison Township is located in western Bedford County. It is bordered by Bedford Township to the east, Cumberland Valley Township to the southeast, Londonderry Township to the southwest, Juniata Township to the west, and Napier Township to the north. The borough of Manns Choice is along the northern border but is not part of the township.

Bedford Township is located in the center of Bedford County and surrounds the borough of Bedford. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 68.3 square miles (176.9 km 2), of which 68.1 square miles (176.3 km 2) is land and 0.23 square miles (0.6 km 2), or 0.34%, is water. Broad Top Township is located in northeastern Bedford County, situated on a portion of the Broad Top plateau. Most of its western boundary follows the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River , and its southern boundary follows the ridgecrest of Harbor Mountain.
