Opryland Hotel opened on November 24, 1977, on land adjacent to the Opryland USA amusement park. [3] The hotel was originally built to support the Grand Ole Opry, a Nashville country-music institution that had moved to the area three years before. It operated seasonally (generally March to October) from 1972 to 1997, and for a special Christmas-themed engagement every December from 1993 to 1997.
