In 2015, Central Catholic's undefeated club Ultimate Frisbee team won the Division II PHUL championships, defeating their rivals from Bethel Park. [16] The varsity baseball team also won the 4A WPIAL Championship, defeating Norwin High School. In 2016, Central Catholic's football team won the first-ever 6A WPIAL Championship.
Serra Catholic is accredited through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. [5] In addition, in September 2012, the school became a recipient of the Catholic High School Honor Roll, by the Cardinal Newman Society. [6] As such, Serra is listed as one of the Top 50 Catholic High Schools in the United States. [7]
North Catholic High School began as an all-boys school in 1939, founded by Bishop Hugh Charles Boyle of the Diocese of Pittsburgh and the Marianists. [8] Girls began enrolling in the school in 1973. The original location of the high school was in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Troy Hill, where it remained in operation for 75 years. [9]

Shady Side Academy is an independent preparatory school Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania in Greater Pittsburgh.Founded in 1883 as an all-male night school in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, the academy now offers a secular coeducational PK–12 program on four campuses in the city and its suburbs, including a boarding program in the Croft and Morewood Houses of its Senior School Campus.
The school was to be named Chartiers Catholic High School. The name was changed soon after to recognize former Bishop of Pittsburgh Regis Canevin. Father Leo G. Henry was then named the first headmaster. Canevin High School opened to 435 boys and girls on September 10, 1959; in June 1963, 303 students graduated.
The 1894 Holy Ghost College football team was an American football team that represented Pittsburgh Catholic College of the Holy Ghost—now known as Duquesne University—during the 1894 college football season. Pittsburgh Athletic Club player George S. Proctor served as the team's head coach. [2]
