Hamilton was born in Kentucky, but moved to Illinois in his early adulthood where he held numerous public offices. Hamilton was a member of the Democratic Party. In the 1830s, Hamilton moved to Cook County, Illinois, where he served as a county judge, the recorder of deeds, county court clerk, and held several minor municipal offices in Chicago.
An independent position of Cook County recorder of deeds was re-created in December 1872. [2] On November 8, 2016, Cook County voters approved a binding referendum to eliminate the office, merging its functions into the purview of the Cook County Clerk. [3] The office formally ceased to exist on December 7, 2020. [4]

As of the 2020 census, the population was 211,668. [1] Its county seat is Crestview. [2] Okaloosa County is included in the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach-Destin, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Edward M. Moody [1] is an American politician who formerly served as Cook County recorder of deeds. He was appointed in December 2018, and served until the office was abolished in December 2020. From October 2016 through December 2018, he served as Cook County Commissioner from the 6th district.
