Goodyear was born on October 18, 1885, in Buffalo, New York. [1] He was the youngest son of Charles W. Goodyear and Ella Portia (née Conger) Goodyear (1853–1940). [2] His eldest brother Anson Goodyear was a prominent art collector. [3] His sister, Esther Permelia Goodyear, married Arnold Brooks Watson. [4]
