John Milton (9 December 1608 – 8 November 1674) was an English poet, polemicist, and civil servant.His 1667 epic poem Paradise Lost, written in blank verse and including twelve books, was written in a time of immense religious flux and political upheaval.

He played in Major League Baseball from 1970 to 1984 for the California Angels, New York Yankees and Texas Rangers. [7] He distinguished himself as a Texas Ranger, police chief of El Paso, and served for over 25 years as America's first border agent. William Hall Milton (1864–1942), grandson of the governor, was a U.S. Senator from Florida from 1908 to 1909. [7]
