The Boy from Oz is an Australian jukebox musical based on the life of singer and songwriter Peter Allen, featuring songs written by him. The book commissioned for the musical is by Nick Enright , based on Stephen MacLean 's 1996 biography of Allen.
This version was later included on his 2004 album, The Essential Collection. In 1996 Colleen Hewett covered the song on her album, Tenterfield Dreams. In 2002, Olivia Newton-John covered the song (with Peter Allen) for her album, 2. In 2004, Hugh Jackman recorded the song for The Boy from Oz Broadway Cast Album.
The song is also used as the closing number for the Peter Allen biographical musical The Boy from Oz. The song is also sung on the Disney channel series K.C. Undercover, specifically the episode "Coopers on the Run"
