Tom Bailey (born 1961) is an author, editor, and former teacher in the Creative Writing program at Susquehanna University. He has published two novels, a collection of short fiction, and two textbooks on writing short stories. He has also been widely published in anthologies and literary journals including New Stories From the South and DoubleTakes
Bailey was married to Thompson Twins member Alannah Currie from 1991 to 2003. They have two children. As of 2014, Bailey lived in France with his second wife, artist Lauren Drescher. [17] He has homes in New Zealand, France, and London. [18] Bailey is a vegan and has said he does not drink alcohol or use recreational drugs. [18]
In 2014, Bailey also took part in the Retro Futura Tour in the US, along with Howard Jones, Midge Ure, China Crisis and Katrina Leskanich formerly of Katrina and the Waves. By 1992, Currie and her then husband, fellow Thompson Twins band member Tom Bailey, elected to form Babble, featuring Currie as lyricist, percussionist and visual artist, as a means of creating music without the commercial expectations that were placed on Thompson Twins. In 1994 Babble released their debut studio album, The Stone.
In 2017, Bailey featured on the chill house song "Waiting" by producer Bjonr, as a vocalist. [1] The song was released Tipsy Records. [2] It was his second time collaborating with Bjorn, the first was in 2016 when he featured on the song "Broken", which was released via the Spinnin' Records sublabel, Source Recordings.
International Observer is a British-New Zealand musical duo formed by Tom Bailey, musician and ex-lead singer of the British band the Thompson Twins, which rose to fame during the 1980s. Its debut album, Seen , featured Māori visual artist Rakai Karaitiana as part of the project.
During the spring of 1992, the duo approached their long-time engineer Keith Fernley and he joined Babble as a full time member. The trio then spent five weeks in India to collect sound and sample recordings for future recording use. [1] Babble's debut album The Stone was recorded at Bailey and Currie's home studio, the Sugar Shack, in London. [2]
