In June 1996, the Fort McCoy Public Library opened its doors. The Fort McCoy Public Library's building also includes a pre-existing auditorium space with a beautiful stage, original hardwood floors, and an open seating area. This historic building has undergone significant renovations to more appropriately house the library and serve the community.
In 2019, Weston voters approved the renovation and reuse of the Josiah Smith Tavern as a restaurant. Efforts to restore the building are being led by The Friends of Josiah Smith Tavern .
During a ceremony held on May 26, 2017, the Central Brevard Library, in Cocoa, FL, was officially renamed the Catherine Schweinsberg Rood Central Library, in honor of former Library Services Director Catherine Schweinsberg Rood. Rood worked in the country library system for 32 years, and spent 14 years serving as its director. [9]
