The Cuando River (or Kwando in the non-colonial spelling) is a river in south-central Africa flowing through Angola and Namibia's Caprivi Strip and into the Linyanti Swamp on the northern border of Botswana. [3] Below the swamp, the river is called the Linyanti River and, farther east, the Chobe River, [4] before it flows into the Zambezi River.

The park covers an area of 42,000 km². [1] It located in Cuando Province in the southeastern corner of Angola. The park is bounded on the west and southwest by the Kavango River, on the south by the border with Namibia, on the east by the Cuando River which forms the border with Zambia, and on the north by Longa-Mavinga National Park.
The park straddles the border between South Africa and Botswana and comprises two adjoining national parks: Kalahari Gemsbok National Park in South Africa and Gemsbok National Park in Botswana. The total area of the park is 38000 km 2 (14,668 mi 2). Approximately three-quarters of the park lies in Botswana and one-quarter in South Africa.
