Superbad is a 2007 American coming-of-age teen buddy comedy film directed by Greg Mottola, written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and produced by Judd Apatow. It stars Jonah Hill and Michael Cera as Seth and Evan, two teenagers about to graduate from high school .
A subplot involving Jonah, Michael and their friend McAnalovin' also occurs throughout the course of the movie. After being picked up by police officers Beat and Yo' Ass for using a false ID to acquire alcohol, McAnalovin' goes on a Grand Theft Auto IV-style adventure that unwittingly unleashes an army of Mexicans upon himself and the officers.
Producer Judd Apatow, who previously worked with Rogen and Goldberg on Knocked Up and Superbad, assisted in developing the story. Columbia Pictures released the film on August 6, 2008, and grossed $102 million worldwide on a $26 million budget. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and has since developed a cult following.
