Billerica (/ b ɪ l ˈ r ɪ k ə / ⓘ) is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 42,119 according to the 2020 census. [ 2 ] It takes its name from the town of Billericay in Essex , England.
In 1635, as an infant, Toothaker traveled to the Massachusetts Bay Colony from London, sailing from 21 August to 11 September on the Hopewell, led by Captain Babb. In 1638, his father, Roger Toothaker, died, possibly in Plymouth on 5 February. Later that year his mother Margaret married Ralph Hill on 21 December and they lived in Billerica.
The Billerica Town Common District is a historic district encompassing what remains of the 1655 town common of Billerica, Massachusetts, and the properties surrounding it. The district is roughly bounded by Cummings Street, Concord Road, and Boston Road.
It was sold to Chelmsford after the Commonwealth of Massachusetts passed a bill to allow a city or town to own land in another city or town.
