"Live Like Horses" is a song written by English musician Elton John and Bernie Taupin, included on John's 1997 album The Big Picture. The album version is sung as a solo by John and the single version, released in 1996, features Italian operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti singing in his native language on parts of the verses and choruses alternatively with John.
It was released in the UK on September 10, 2007, four days after Pavarotti's death. The album includes 20 of his very well known hits (including the smash hit "Nessun dorma"), plus an extra track called "Live Like Horses" (a collaboration with Elton John).
"Live Like Horses" was originally recorded in 1994 and intended for John's previous studio album, Made in England, but lack of time for the inclusion ruled this out. The single version of the song, released in 1996, was a duet with Luciano Pavarotti, but the song is performed solo for this album.
