Plano is a city near Aurora in Kendall County, Illinois, United States, with a population of 11,847 as of the 2020 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area, being about 55 miles (90 km) from Chicago. The city was home to the Plano Harvester Company in the late 19th century, as well as the Plano Molding Company more recently.
Albert H. Sears was born just north of Plano, Illinois on May 14, 1856. His father was a surveyor and one of the first residents of Kendall County. In 2002, Ben Stevens, producer of the Sci-Fi Expo (1994–present), and Philip Wise, owner of rebelscum.com and theforce.net, brought on consultant Mark Walters (of the defunct Dallas Fantasy Fair, who had staged the Dallas Comic & Toy Fest from 2000 to 2002) [8] and produced the first Dallas Comic Con. A small-flowered "cactus dahlia". The garden presently is planted the third week each May [4] [6] and includes more than 250 varieties [3] within the 3,000 dahlias planted. The American Dahlia Society recognizes 19 petal configurations of dahlias, and all are represented in the garden.

There is evidence that the Fox River valley near Silver Springs was populated by indigenous people near the end of the last ice age, 10–14,000 years ago. [1] The original 1,250 acres (510 ha) tract of land that became Silver Springs State Fish and Wildlife Area was purchased by the state of Illinois in 1969, and has been open since January of that year.
