The Bridge Fire was a destructive wildfire in the Angeles National Forest in Southern California's Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties. The fire began on September 8 and burned a total of 56,030 acres (22,670 hectares) before being fully contained on November 26, 2024. [1] The cause of the fire is under investigation. [2]

The San Gabriel Mountains Trailbuilders (SGMTBs) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization which performs hiking and nature trail building and maintenance within the Los Angeles Gateway District [1] of the United States Forest Service which maintains the Angeles National Forest within the San Gabriel Mountains.
The Angeles Crest 100-Mile Endurance Run, or AC100, is an ultramarathon 100 miles (162 kilometers) long that takes place annually along trails through California's Angeles National Forest. The course was originally designed to be a challenging 30-hour course, but due to its difficulty, the official cut-off time is set to 33 hours.

Notable hiking in the area includes Heaton Flat along the East Fork of the San Gabriel River to Bridge to Nowhere.Also popular for hikes is the trail to the 277-acre (1.12 km 2) Big Horn Mine, which was purchased from the owner in 2006 by the Wilderness Land Trust, and incorporated into the wilderness after being transferred to the US Forest Service.
