The Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts (JCPA) (originally the Civic Auditorium and previously known as the Times Union Center) is a performing arts center located in Jacksonville, Florida. Situated along the Riverbank, the venue is known as the First Coast ’s "premiere riverfront entertainment facility".
The sale of the theatre to Theatre Partners, a group of local investors, was announced on October 28, 2009. [5] The group stated that operations would resume December 1, 2009, with A Christmas Carol, which has been a fixture in Jacksonville for more than 20 years. Former owner Tod Booth agreed to direct the shows, which were the primary attraction.
In all, the Phillips Center consists of a 1,700-seat proscenium hall and a 200-seat Black Box Theatre. In 2000, retired Jacksonville surgeon Curtis M. Phillips provided The Barbara J. and Curtis M. Phillips M.D. Endowment Fund to name the performing arts center.
The venue opened on May 27, 2017, with a concert by the Jacksonville-based Tedeschi Trucks Band. [ 24 ] On April 23, 2021, Machine Gun Kelly performed at Daily's Place on a tour in support of his album Tickets to My Downfall —marking the first full-capacity concert held at Daily's Place since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
