Rosa Parks Circle is a plaza located in the heart of Grand Rapids, Michigan. [1] During the warmer months it is a multipurpose facility, acting as a venue for events like concerts [2] or dances put on by the Grand Rapids Original Swing Society (GROSS). [3] In the winter the Circle is converted to an ice rink. [4]
The CCSA was founded in 1983 by Marguerite McCormick. Originally known as the UTSA Children's Chorus, the chorus operated with only 33 singers. As the program grew, it eventually split off and the Children's Chorus of San Antonio was officially created as an independent musical non-profit organization in 1993.
The event grew quickly, filling the Vandenberg Plaza by the 1980s, and subsequently expanding into nearby streets, with several performance stages, and more than two dozen food booths. The public event was suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, replaced with a virtual event. Festival has since returned to a free, public live event. [4]
