German Village is a historic neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, just south of the city's downtown.It was settled in the early-to-mid-19th century by a large number of German immigrants, who at one time comprised as much as a third of the city's entire population.
Durenberger was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, the son of Isabelle Marie (née Cebulla) and George Gephard Durenberger. [3] He was a Roman Catholic of German and Polish descent. [4] His father was the athletic director and a coach at College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota, and the family lived on campus. [3]
