Salisbury (/ ˈ s ɔː l z b ə r i / SAWLZ-bə-ree) is a city in and the county seat of Wicomico County, Maryland, United States. [6] Salisbury is the largest city in the state's Eastern Shore region, with a population of 33,050 at the 2020 census. Salisbury is the principal city of the Salisbury, Maryland Metropolitan Statistical Area.
She was also the sister of Anne Calvert, Baroness Baltimore (1615–1649), who later lent her name to Anne Arundel County, which was erected in 1650 as the Province of Maryland's third county. Somerset County is located on the state's Eastern Shore. It is included in the Salisbury, MD-DE Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The current Salisbury–Ocean Pines Combined Statistical Area consists of the Salisbury metropolitan area and the Ocean Pines micropolitan area. As of the 2000 Census, the CSA had a population of 155,934 (though a July 1, 2009 estimate placed the population at 169,303).
The Maude R. Toulson Federal Building is a historic federal government building in Salisbury, Maryland. It is a large two-story brick building with Classical Revival styling. It has a nine-bay front facade, the center three projecting slightly, and is topped by a low balustrade punctuated by brick piers.
MD 346 is the old alignment of US 50 between Salisbury and Berlin, connecting those cities with Parsonsburg, Pittsville, and Willards in eastern Wicomico County and Whaleyville in northern Worcester County. Much of what is now MD 346 was built as the original state road between Salisbury and Ocean City in the mid-1910s.
