Fall of the Kamal Nath government and formation of fourth Shivraj Singh Chouhan government. In March 2020, a political crisis took place in the state of Madhya Pradesh , India, due to the resignation of 22 sitting MLAs of the Indian National Congress party from the state's Legislative Assembly . [ 1 ]
Due to no majority Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister Of Madhya Pradesh resigned on 12 December 2018. Kamal Nath took oath on 17 December 2018 as new Chief Minister Of Madhya Pradesh and with this, INC came back to the power in State after 15 years.

This resulted in the toppling of the Kamal Nath ministry and the ascendancy of Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government. By 23 July 2020, another 3 Congress MLAs (Pradyuman Singh Lodhi (of Malhara), Sumitra Devi Kasdekar (of Nepanagar) and Narayan Patel (of Mandhata)) had resigned to join the BJP. [6]
Other MLAs loyal to Scindia also resigned from the INC and their MLA posts. This led to the 2020 Madhya Pradesh political crisis which in turn resulted in the resignation of Nath as chief minister on 23 March 2020. Nath's replacement, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, was sworn in as chief minister of Madhya Pradesh on 23 March 2020. [21]
In March 2020, 22 Congress MLAs resigned from the assembly, and defected to Bharatiya Janata Party along with Jyotiraditya Scindia, [4] resulting in the collapse of the state government and resignation by Chief Minister Kamal Nath. [5] Subsequently BJP formed the state government, with Shivraj Singh Chouhan becoming Chief Minister. [6]
Presently INC's Shashank Bhargava is the MLA from this constituency. He was preceded by Kalyan Singh Thakur in 2014 when the by-election for this seat was held in 2014 after CM of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan resigned from this constituency post registering victory at two seats Budhni and Vidisha Assembly constituency.
