Tomohiro Nishikado (西角 友宏, Nishikado Tomohiro, born March 31, 1944) is a Japanese video game developer and engineer.He is the creator of the arcade shoot 'em up game Space Invaders, released to the public in 1978 by the Taito Corporation of Japan, often credited as the first shoot 'em up [1] and for beginning the golden age of arcade video games. The title is a collection of two cross-over games that swaps characters between Taito's Space Invaders and Namco's Pac-Man. It was released for a limited time (September 1, 2005 – October 31, 2005) via NTT DoCoMo's i-mode service. The game was released as part of Namco's 50th anniversary, as well as to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Pac-Man.
The game's title derives from one of the player's goals of raising their combat rating to the exalted heights of "Elite".
